Reforming Radical Islam: The Moroccan Model

Dr. Mohsine El Ahmadi. Dr. El Ahmadi has written extensively on
Islamist movements in Morocco and will examine the governments efforts
to fight radical Islamist movements in the wake of the Casablanca
bombings of 2003.

Since then, the Moroccan government has undertaken a vigorous effort to
reform the countrys religious institutions and thinking by seeking to
occupy a space once dominated by radical Islamist movements. It has
sought to gain full control of religious activities throughout Morocco
as well as to reintroduce Sufi religiosity in politics. Dr. El Ahmadi
will give a general overview of the religious and political debate
between the state and Islamist movements in Morocco while examining the
efficiency of such policies in the mid- and long-term.

Extraordinary Islamic Art; Ben Youssef Madersa, Marrakesh Morocco

Located in the northern medina of Marrakesh the Ben Youssef Medersa is one of Moroccos most exquisite buildings. It exemplifies Andalusian and Moroccan art and architecture from the 14th and 16th centuries. The medersa was a center for Koranic learning, where up to 900 students lived in learned. Every available surface is intricately decorated in carved stucco, lintel screens, carved cedar doors, and zellij tile. The art and architecture is largely Andalusian-influenced with many parallels to Spains Alhambra Palace in Granada. If you visit only one building in Marrakesh, make sure it is this stunning medersa.

Saturday 23 October 2010

Everyone knows that these days money is so hard to make.Jobs are hard to come by. Everyone says that you can make some quick cash, but its not true. Making money no matter how you make it, takes time and patients.
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. 1
You must figure out what you are going to or need to spend money on. You don't want to make some extra money and not know what you really need to spend it on and you just blow it.
  2. 2
You have to keep telling yourself that the money is coming now. Not soon or that it will hopefully come. You need to stay positive.
  3. 3
You can't force your brain to come up creative ideas. Let these ideas come to you or you should sit down and like you would discuss in a group of people. Discuss and write down all thoughts and ideas and come up with them that way.
  4. 4
Accept your current money situation. Don't feel like your a victim or feel bad or guilty in anyway. You, yourself can turn any situation around at any point in time in your life as long as you think with a positive attitude.
  5. 5
If you feel fear or frustration with debt don't worry about it. you know how you got it, its not anyone else business how you got it. Just accept that you have it.
  6. 6
Plan to pay off your debt. Even if you work out a payment plan that is in your price range and that you can afford.
  7. 7
Feel like a person who doesn't have any debt. Don't go and over send your money, but spend it on things that you need.
  8. 8
Ask for help if you feel that you really do need it. Seek financial advice.
  9. 9
You don't have to be good with numbers at all. Just keep an open mind. Keep your stress levels down. Don't make yourself feel like you have let yourself down at all. Just make good decisions and keep your head high.

make money by 10 ways to send traffic to your M.BLOG

morocco blogger
In every bloggers life comes a special day – the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else’s blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader – you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that’s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers.
Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers. These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.
It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called "traction", which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.

Top 10 Tips

10. Write at least five major “pillar” articles. A pillar article is a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good “how-to” lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn’t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.
9. Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.
You don’t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.
8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need a easily rememberable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that’s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you’ve done a good job!).
7. Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people’s blogs. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.
Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.
6. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger’s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry – it’s sort of like your blog telling someone else’s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.
This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important – it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will likely come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.
5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.
4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival often enjoy a spike in new readers.
To find the right blog carnival for your blog, do a search at blogcarnival.com.
3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com. To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it’s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it’s worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!
2. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com. This is another tip that doesn’t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it’s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have – your pillar articles. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter.
How you benefit is through what is called your “Resource Box”. You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case). Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.
1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I’ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won’t stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.
I hope you enjoyed my list of traffic tips. Everything listed above are techniques I’ve put into place myself for my blogs and have worked for me, however it’s certainly not a comprehensive list. There are many more things you can do. Finding readers is all about testing to see what works best for you and your audience and I have no doubt if you put your mind to it you will find a balance that works for you.

How to make money online from Morocco

Experts coming from 80 countries took part. An emotive tribute to Abbas Jirari, adviser to the king The forum held at Fez on the union of civilisations and cultural diversity which opened on Sunday has brought back under discussion the role of the media. Initiated by the Centre marocain interdisciplinaire des études stratégiques et internationales (CMIESI)/ Interdisciplinary Centre of Morocco for Strategic and International Studies (ICMSIS), the Spirit Foundation of Fez, the Town Council, in collaboration with several foreign and Moroccan partners, this new slant on things has rendered an emotive tribute to Abbas Jirari, adviser to His Majesty the King and a member of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco. At one and the same time a committed intellectual, a thinker, a researcher, a critic, an educationalist and a fervent defender of Moroccan identity, Jirari has enriched national thought in the areas of both education and help for researchers notes Abdelhaq Mrini, director of Royal Etiquette and the Chancellery. In terms of number of contributors, the writings and studies of Abbas Jirari constitute a reference for researchers and academics all over the Arab and Western world. The tribute paid to him in this forum which was held from 15 to 17 November with the theme: “Media and communication: the stakes and challenges of the third millennium” is a good opportunity to promote the capabilities of Moroccan intellectuals. Especially in the presence of a panel of experts coming from more than 80 countries. Hence the opportunity also to “conduct a common reflexion on the interaction between union of civilisations and what is at stake for the reporting of them in the media” as Khalid Naciri, Minister of Communication and government spokesman, points out. According to him this forum constitutes the point of departure for a new recognition of the right to be different, of cultural diversity, of peaceful co-existence and the eschewing of conflicts, just when the media is taking off in a big way, welcoming various intellectual, political and cultural approaches. In point of fact, countries are confronted by a major problem, that of morality in order to harmonise politics and ethics.
The debate is open anyway and sessions of reflexion on “Globalisation and Dialogue between Cultures: the Role of the Media in Contemporary International Relations”, “The Fourth Power?” , “Ambiguous Relations between the Media and Politics”, “Arab Media and Western Media: Interactions and Crossed Perceptions”, “Media and Communication within the Confines of Union for the Mediterranean” and “The Media in Morocco: Realities and Perspectives” are going to finish on what should be the profession of the media. The goal is to promote access for all peoples, notably the poorest, to the information society through the development and utilisation of NTICs* bearing in mind their fundamental role in the discovery and the knowing of others and, by extension, in the mutual enrichment of cultures and civilisations with the sole aim of establishing a better life together.

Islamic Fast on Train in Morocco North Africa - Scott Koch

The video maker said"we only had a short period of time in Tangiers before we headed to the train station in order to travel south toward the ancient city of Fes (Fez). Fes was the first Islamic capital of Morocco, and my have been a major capital for more of the world as well.

In the train station i fell asleep on a bench and when i woke I was greeted by Mourad and Soufiane. They asked me some basic questions and then helped us find our way to the train, the same train they were departing on.

we shared a cabin on the train and they entertained all of my questions about Arabic / Islam culture.

We were traveling during the month of Ramadan and half way thru our journey the sunset. This meant it was time to break their fast for the day. This was done with some type of milk and sweet rolls. They shared their food with everyone in the cabin. I shared my granola bar, but it wasn't quite as rich of an cultural exchange.

There were also some basic Arabic lessons. Some of which were repeats from my trip to Kazakhstan (but you can not tell in the video).
1. 'as-salāmu calaykum = Hello; Peace upon you
2. responce: calaykumu s-salām = Hello; Peace upon you, too
3. to begin a meal: "in the name of Ala"
4. to end a meal: "thank you Ala"

Allison would be so upset if she found out that i messed up the dinner prayer again. :)

Muslim Morocco Expels Five Christian Missionaries - UN silent

Thursday 14 October 2010

The missionaries were caught Saturday during an assembly with Moroccan Muslims in Casablanca, the North African kingdom's economic capital, and have been sent to Spain by boat, the Interior Ministry said in a statement carried by the official MAP news agency.

"Numerous pieces of evangelical propaganda material were also seized," including video cassettes in Arabic that advocated conversion to Christianity, the statement said.

A senior Interior Ministry official said the missionaries were four Spaniards and a German woman. He insisted Morocco has nothing against the Christian faith, but that authorities felt the missionaries had gone too far. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in keeping with Interior Ministry rules, said the missionaries were expelled without being officially arrested or charged. He could not specify the Christian denomination to which they belonged.

Several Evangelical Christians have been charged or detained in recent months in neighboring Algeria, and authorities throughout North Africa have become increasingly wary of an apparent push by some Protestant churches in this overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim region.

Christianity and Judaism are freely practiced in dozens of churches, temples and synagogues throughout Morocco, but proselytizing to convert Muslims is considered illegal.

A tourism haven and a strong Western ally, Morocco has a reputation for tolerance. At the same time, the country's King Mohammed VI is also "Amir al-Mouminine," or commander of the believers and protector of the Muslim faith.

Morocco appears to have hardened its stance on moral issues in recent weeks. A Shiite Muslim school was closed earlier this month on suspicion it was trying to convert pupils, and Rabat severed its diplomatic relations with Iran, accusing the Shiite Islamic republic of trying to undermine Morocco's Sunni unity.

The Interior Ministry also recently issued a statement asserting it would not hesitate to crack down on media or activists that threatened the country's religious or moral values. The statement was viewed as targeting Shiites, as well as some newspapers that recently called for more rights for homosexuals.

Islam in morocco

Monday 11 October 2010

Islam was first brought to Morocco in 680 by an Arab invasion under Uqba ibn Nafi, who was a general serving under the Umayyads of Damascus. In 788, The Idrisids ruled Morocco, being the first dynasty to do so. After adopting Islam, several Berbers formed their own Islamic dynasties and reigned over the country. Most Berbers converted to Islam after more Arabs came to Morocco with their culture and customs. Islam has been the official religion since. In 2008, Iran-Morocco ties almost destroyed when Moroccan government accused Iranian embassy in Morocco in propagation of Shia Islam.

Jobs: Mom Makes $6762 a Month at Home

As part of our continued series: "Employment and the Recession: What Do We Need To Know" we research an industry that is booming, in spite of a Recession. Filed by Tina Lewis under Finance.

Many of these online workers are making as much as $300 a day working part time online using nothing but their internet connection and home computer.

Kim Barnes is a regular mom who lost her job last year, after an unsuccessful job hunt she started working online from home. I interviewed her about her amazing story and she revealed her steps for success.

Step 1

Go to this link, fill out a basic online form and hit submit at Web Profit Club (Better Business Bureau A+ Accredited), pay the $1.97 for the shipping.

Step 2

Follow the directions and set up an account. Then they will give you the website links to post. Start posting those links. They track everything.

Step 3

You will receive your first checks in about a week. Or you can have them wire directly into your checking account. (Your first checks will be about $500 to $1,500 a week. Then it goes up from there. It depends on how many links you posted online.)

Have You Ever Considered Working Online?

Kim Barnes of , never thought that she would consider it, until curiosity got the best of her and she filled out a simple online form. Before she knew it, she discovered her secret to beating the recession, and being able to provide for her family while at home with her three children.

I read Kim's blog last month and decided to feature her story in our weekly consumer report. In our phone interview she told me her amazing story. "I actually make about $5,000-$7,000 a month working from home. It's enough to comfortably replace my old job income, especially considering I only work about 15-18 hours a week from home right now.

Working online has been a financial windfall for Kim, who struggled for months to find a decent job but kept hitting dead ends. "I lost my job shortly after the recession hit, I needed reliable income, I was not interested in the "get rich quick" scams you see all over the internet. Those are all pyramid schemes. I just needed a legitimate way to earn a living for me and my family. The best part of working online is that I am always home with the kids, I save a lot of money."

"I actually make $5,000 to $7,000 a month working from home."

- Kim Barnes

I asked her about how she started her remarkable journey. "It was pretty easy, I filled out a short form and applied for a work at home kit. There is a small shipping and handling fee, its not really free but it was under $5. I got the Kit and within four weeks I was making over $5,000 a month. It's really simple, I am not a computer whiz, but I can use the internet. I post links that are given to me, I don't even have to sell anything and nobody has to buy anything. They are constantly recruiting people to post links, you should try it." There are over 350 positions available just for at the time of this report.

These online social giants are worth well over 100 billion dollars and growing. They are the most used social networking and meeting places on the web today and growing faster and faster. These companies have just started hiring people to work at home to keep up with the demand. Why not get in with the internets best and biggest companies.

Now, there are plenty of scams on the internet claiming you can make $50,000 a month, but that is exactly what they are scams. From my conversation with Kim, "I am making a good salary from home, which is amazing, under a year ago I was jobless in a horrible economy. I thank god every day that I filled out that form."

Quickly, Kelly Richards was able to use the simple Web Profit Club to make it out of the recession.

"I have never told anyone they will make millions of dollars. Instead, I believe this is the only site that tells you won't make millions, but you can make legitimate income from home like I did and replace your full time job."

Getting started is easy. Just follow these simple steps below to get started.

Step 1

Go to this link, fill out a basic online form and hit submit at Web Profit Club (BBB A+ Rated), pay the $1.97 for the starter kit.

Step 2

Follow the directions and set up an account. Then they will give you the website links to post. Start posting those links. They track everything.

Step 3

You will receive your first check in about a week. Or you can start to have them wire directly into your checking account. (Your first checks will be about $500 to $1,500 a week. Then it goes up from there. It depends on how many links you posted online.)

Kim stressed the importance of using both kits.
